I used to use the Dyscalculia screener but it is costly and there is a yearly renewal on it, plus the county I am in does not accept its results. I have used it about 150 times and found there were times that there was a negative result when from my knowledge of the child I would have said the child was Dyscalculic.
At the counties request I have used the appropriate Nfer Maths test. I have many pupils who find Maths challenging for a number of reasons but on settling into secondary school find that it is not the scary subject they thought it was and they improve.
We too have a mother that wants her child testing and has asked the Ed Psyc. They have refused. (Incidently the child is now doing well in Maths)

Does anyone know if there is a specific screening for dyscalculia? I have had a request from a parent for such a screening and although we feel the students does not have such a need rather she finds Maths more challenging than other subjects - we can do dyslexia screenings ourselves but not dyscalculia. ThanksLucy Stephen
