Hi Stuart,
As a family we tried The Listening Program, as we all have APD, a listening disability. For us it was a complete failure. Having said that some have gained some benefit.
I am even now in contact with the guy who developes the prograsm via Facebook.
The Listening Program is very much based on the work of Alfred Tomatis, and there are other program variations around.
Slightly different but on a similar theme is Auditory Intergration Therapy (AIT)
You could have a look at my online PubMed Computer-based auditory training (CBAT)research paper collection
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/myncbi/collections/public/1hk36lnGC1XDSnNB5mqYO5c/
which is also listed on m PubMed Communication & Neurology research paper collection links web page
http://www.dolfrog.org/PM-Communication-Neurology.html
which also has links to my Phonology and Plasticity research paper collections.
best wishes
Graeme

She has trialled it on herself and is now trialling with three students at a special school. It is very time consuming - it requires half an hour a day but she has one student that it has had a significant impact on - he has been following the programme daily since September. She wasn't totally convinced by the effect on herself although she said that family and friends had noticed a difference. The OT implied that it is successful if the students are self-motivated to improve their listening, attention and memory as it is a big commitment and can feel quite tedious.
